Below Pauline tells us more about herself and her new role with Rombourne along with some top tips…

Hi Pauline! Tell us more about you..

I have worked at Rombourne Services Offices in Swindon at Kingston House for 10 months, it is a great place to work. I have had a varied career from running elections and licensing at the local authority for 15 years to accounts, estate agency and running my own businesses, including an art shop and gallery and my own interior design company. I currently have a property portfolio which I look after so working part time is ideal.

What is your role at Rombourne?

I am part of the welcoming reception team that manages client’s needs here at Kingston House, Swindon.  We offer a Full Client Service which includes plush modern offices, reception service, various facilities including break out areas, boardroom and meeting room hire. The other package we offer is a Virtual Service which includes providing a prestigious business location and telephone answering.  My duties vary from handling clients calls to managing facility requirements such arranging meetings, processing personal documents, and maintaining office spaces. We always go that extra mile to make sure we support our new and existing clients so that their business runs smoothly.

What’s a typical day like for you at Rombourne?

A typical day involves firstly a lovely cup of coffee! Initially discussing the day ahead with the team, checking the calendar to see if we have anything booked in for clients/contractors or maintenance. I support with meeting and greeting clients and their visitors, handling telephone calls, setting up new clients with their requirements and communication needs. Also processing the mail, booking meeting rooms, maintaining spreadsheets and building management duties to name but a few.

What is your favourite thing about working at Rombourne as a Receptionist Administrator?

The reception team are fabulous to work with and I love the facility itself, it’s a beautiful, plush modern site that never ceases to amaze new clients and visitors. We have a variety of clients that have interesting businesses which makes for a varied perspective. I enjoy getting to know our clients and the business or company that they work for. It’s an advantage to be knowledgeable about the businesses we look after.

What’s the most challenging aspect of your role and why?

One of the most challenging parts of the role is juggling the many and varied duties that reception has to offer, such as remembering all the special requirements for each individual client. However, with the help and support of the Rombourne Reception team we share the load and keep everything running smoothly, always with a smile.

What essentials do you take to work, and why?

On a working day I am always prepared with my handy notebook and love to be organised at the start of my shift.  I am a very methodical person and like everything to be in order. I also have my lunch and fruit teas plus a chocolate treat to keep me going throughout the day.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not at Rombourne?

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time playing golf on a Friday at our local golf club, Castle Combe. I have been a member of Castle Coombe Golf Club for 4 years where my daughter Danielle was a lady captain, the youngest captain in England at the age of 20. Also playing golf abroad is always a lovely treat.  We also have a BMW R1200 Adventure GS bike which we love touring on. One of my daughters is a mechanical engineer for BMW and is going on a 2-year secondment so we will look forward to riding over to Munich and spending long weekends with her. We have a black and tan Old English Hunt Terrier which is a real character and I love long walks with her in the early morning before work. One of my favourite things is socialising with our many friends and fine dining.

What would be your number one reception etiquette tip?

My number 1 etiquette tip according to my peers is my patience and relaxed friendly manner. No matter how busy reception is I stay calm, prioritise, and always keep smiling!
